"A Second Chance For Love"

Welcome to HALO - Hood Co Animal Lovers Organization

Rescue / Community Outreach-Education / Spay-Neuter Initiatives

for Hood County displaced animals

a 501(c)3 non-profit organization

HALO – Hood Co Animal Lovers Organization was founded in April 2011 by animal welfare volunteers who wanted to work with the local animal control facility, local animal shelters and the community to find homes for the large amount of displaced & abandoned animals in Hood County.

HALO is not a shelter, but a group of volunteers who foster displaced animals in their homes until permanent homes can be found. Foster animals are vetted and brought to adoption sites around Hood County in search for a new loving home. No adoptable animal is ever euthanized because a permanent home could not be found. If you find a stray and you are unable to care for it while actively looking for his/her family, please call animal control at 817-573-4277 or for after hours call 817-579-3307.

HALO – Hood Co Animal Lovers Organization is a nonprofit, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization run solely by volunteers. We have no paid staff and all moneys raised through donations, fund raisers, and adoptions are used for the care of HALO’s animals.

If you need help placing your animal or an animal you have found, please go to our “Rehoming Your Pet” page for helpful guidance.

Mission Statement: Hood Co Animal Lovers Organization (HALO) is dedicated to creating a better quality of life for displaced companion animals in Hood County by helping them secure a 'second chance' in loving forever homes.

DO YOU NEED PET FOOD STAMPS?

There are over 50 million Americans who currently receive Food Stamps, many with dogs or cats, who simply cannot afford to feed their animals, and these cherished companions are dropped off at animal shelters where they will most likely never leave. A recent New York Times article states that “animal shelters have reported a steep rise in the number of cats and dogs being surrendered as owners face unemployment, home foreclosures, evictions and other financial hardships.” As more families struggle with difficult choices like paying the rent or buying food, some have to choose between keeping their pet and putting food on the table..

If you are receiving Food Stamps or are in a low income bracket and would like to apply for Pet Food Stamps, check out this website.
